[BRLTTY] OT: A kernel patch, hard to do?

Hi to all,
I've downloaded a kernel patch called keyboard sniffer. Its purpose is to let you read the display with sbl without a braille display.
Since nobody seams to know an answer in the german linux lists I attended, I'm asking here:
Is a kernel patch hard to do? Is it difficault so that a user with little experience in linux shouldn't do it?
And, if it's poossible for non-experts, how is the procedure?
