Which USB modules are listed in your /etc/modprobe.conf file? Check for one or
more lines which look like this:

   alias usb-controller uhci-hcd

Do any other USB users on this list have the same problem, i.e. messages like
this in the system log?

   usb 2-1: usbfs: usb_submit_urb returned -22
