No it can't. The device name can be changed. Most vendours set it by convention
to the model of the device so that you can find it, but you can change it to
something more meaningful any time you want to. For example, I've set my cell
phone's Bluetooth name to "Dave's Cell Phone" so that I can more easily find
it.
