Samuel, you're right: probably we shouldn't care. Aniway: if I lose my internet connection with a wrong stty command I can re-establish the connection, if I lose the possibility to read the screen may be I can't do anything (if it's night, I can't call my sister for example :) ). In my opinion a lock is a good idea: it may be invasive but a good idea.
