I think that's completely wrong. In German, the e is another way of saying that 
the preceding o has an umlaut over it. The e, in other words, belongs very 
tightly to the o, and not at all to the n. Any English "standard" that insists 
that "en" be used is showing prfound ignorance of basic German spelling. This 
is a case where I don't care what the rules say ... if that's what they say 
then they're wrong.
