I hope you understand that you're not using the default localstatedir and that 
it'd be inappropriate for us to taylour our default settings to the 
requirements of a non-standard installation. In fact, may I strongly urge you 
to change your build environment such that localstatedir is /var as making it 
anything else precludes any package from using other subdirectories of /var via 
the localstatedir standard.
