There was a time when you couldn't specify more than one driver. There was a 
time when you couldn't specify more than one device. Maybe there'll come a time 
when multiple tables can be specified. Changing the meaning of 
--with-text-table would eliminate that possibility.

Yes, especially since more and more is becoming table-driven now.

This indeed is a problem. The key tables cannot be compiled in at the moment. 
Building them in could use up lots of memory since a number of drivers have 
several key tables, i.e. one per model.
