I'm asking the obvious, perhaps, but have you checked the firmware version?

I'm noticing oddities like this, occasionally, with my Baum SuperVario display
and BRLTTY 4.5. I haven't managed to track it down though: ideally, I want a
gdb session that can show what's going on.
