Is just brltty crashing, or is all of DOS crashing?

I believe you said that you needed sighted help to make this determination. I 
don't know DOS very well at all, so I'm wondering why your asap screen reader 
(which I assume is speech) isn't showing it.

Could you please add the option -ldebug,inpkts,outpkts and try again. I'm 
hoping that that'll give us a clue as to where the failure is occurring. 

Perhaps you could post the brltty.log file when you have it. Just attach it to 
a message to this list.

Something else I'd like you to try is to specify -bno (no braille driver), and 
-btt (the TTY braille driver). When specifying any driver other than no or the 
one for your device, please make sure that your device is disconnected first so 
that serial probing doesn't cause any problems with it.
