Brltty has no problems being restarted like that so my assumption, at least for 
now, is that your driver isn't restarting correctly. Maybe its destruct() 
method isn't doing everything that it should. Maybe you're doing a forced kill 
(-9, -KILL) so that its destruct() method isn't being run.
