Yes, with the zh_TW contraction table it does indeed crash. For others, the problematic line, from brltty's --version output, is:

   brltty:    Copyright (©) 2002-2022 by Sébastien Hinderer <Sebastien.Hinderer at ens-lyon.org>, Samuel Thibault <samuel.thibault at ens-lyon.org>

The problematic character is the lowercase e with an acute accent from Sebastien's name. I didn't include the accent here so it won't crash for you. :-)

I haven't yet found the precise cause but maybe the problem will go away for you if you define the character, which is U+00E9.
