[BRLTTY] ./configure --enable-standalone-programs throws errors on both debian 11 and 12

The brltty package you have installed:
brltty-6.4-i586-4
is for a 32-but architecture, but the system is 64-bit so yo need this package
instead:
https://slackware.uk/slackware/slackware64-15.0/extra/brltty/brltty-6.4-x86_64-4.txz

I will also check that you have the needed dependencies.
