Essentially, all of the major desktop environments are making the switch
or have already done so. X11 has an end date. I don't think it's worth
reporting bugs in that environment anymore. I would rather test and
report bugs against Wayland, and the only way to do that is to use it
regularly.

I also find that it works quite well with Orca now, so there isn't
really a strong reason to switch back to X.

My general approach to software is to move away from older technologies
that are unlikely to be maintained, as soon as the newer alternatives
are ready to satisfy my needs. I prefer to be on the leading edge of the
adoption process rather than depending on old tools which don't have
much community support anymore - and X is in that category.

As another example, I was relatively quick to move to systemd once it
was clear that most of the popular distributions were adopting it.

I've recently been exploring Typst as a document creation tool (the
markup syntax is excellent for BRLTTY users). However, for now, LaTeX is
still better supported by journals and publishers, so I may not be able
to use Typst for any manuscript intended to be submitted for
publication. Markdown and Hugo templates are excellent for maintaining a
personal Web site, and the static site generators seem to be gaining in
popularity among technically well informed Linux users.
