It could be both. It could always fall back on plugged in API's but I think
in the long run it would not have to. As the AI's get faster the response
time and the ability to know what needs to be done gets quicker. You would
be controlling the AI with your keys or motions it would be no different
than now but much more powerful.

This is absolutely fascinating and very cool. I see a lot of potential for
such an approach to help people dealing with fresh vision loss or as a
safety net when accessibility breaks or is lacking, but I don't ever see it
replacing a screen-reader plugged right into the OS for productivity
purposes. It seems very unlikely that such a solution could ever provide
latencies sufficiently low to complete tasks in an altogether fluid manner.
Part of why I harbour such a strong dislike for GUIs is the perceptible
latency when interacting with the OS, something which I rarely if ever
experience with BRLTTY on console.
