I haven't used a BrailleNote, but perhaps there is a menu option to set the
baud rate. If so, try setting it to 38400 before running BRLTTY. If not, you
could try editing
BrailleDrivers/BrailleNote/braille.c by changing the line
static const int serialBaud = 38400;
to 9600, then running make && make install as usual from the top-level BRLTTY
directory.
