That's very odd. Did you check your syslog to ensure that gpm really is
running, i.e. that it really stayed up after having been started?

If you're using an older release of brltty then you should also ensure that
"Pointer Follows Window" is off.

If you're willing to build your own brltty then you could always configure it
with --disable-gpm-support.

Yes, and no. While the new gpm release (whenever it comes out) should resolve
the problem, you shouldn't be encountering it anyway if gpm really is running. 
That's why I'd like to be really sure that it is running.

Also, which release of brltty are you using?
