[BRLTTY] GPM open error: Inappropriate ioctl for device

Hi, Dave,

GPM isn't writing anything to syslog when I start it (/etc/init.d/gpm
start... and now added to my default runlevel for automatic start-up at
boot). But I do see it in the process table, so it is, in fact, running, or
at least faking it very nicely. ;)

I'm running brltty 3.8, so I should have the latest and greatest. There's no
"pointer follows window" option in the menu as a result.

Is there any more verbose logging I can turn on to see what's causing this
error?

That's very odd. Did you check your syslog to ensure that gpm really is
running, i.e. that it really stayed up after having been started?

If you're using an older release of brltty then you should also ensure that
"Pointer Follows Window" is off.

If you're willing to build your own brltty then you could always configure
it
with --disable-gpm-support.

Yes, and no. While the new gpm release (whenever it comes out) should
resolve
the problem, you shouldn't be encountering it anyway if gpm really is
running.
That's why I'd like to be really sure that it is running.

Also, which release of brltty are you using?
