>Has anyone had any luck getting the SEIKA THDZ 40display to work with BRLTTY?

No, I don't think so. At least, I haven't heard of it.

Why's it caleld a Treo? That implies three of something.

>From what I can tell, this display contains a Silicon Labs CP2102 USB to
>serial converter,

Which way is the adapter connected? Another way of asking what I'm wanting to
know is does it have a serial or a USB port on the outside?

>and is supposed to emulate a TSI PowerBraille 40.

Does it also have its own protocol and/or is it able to emulate anything else,
or is the PB40 emulation the single way it commuicates?

>I tried the following command with no luck:
>brltty -b ts -d serial:/dev/ttyUSB0

Your command is correct, assuming that you're using a USB port on the display.
It's possible, however, that the actual device you should be using is ttyUSB1,
ttyUSB2, etc. Do an ls of /dev with the display disconnected, connect it, wait
a few seconds for udev to settle down, and then do another ls of /dev. If you
redirect the output of those ls commands to two files and then diff them, you
should be able to see which device is actually being used.
