[BRLTTY] garbage display partially solved on FreeBSD

Hi,

since brltty v10 changes, brltty displayed garbage, as you can perhaps remember,

i already reported it.

installing a new system, and trying brltty (svn version from yesterday),
brltty started as a charm.

then i decided to narrow the problem.
i found that setting LANG on, was the culprit:

SETENV fr_FR.ISO8859-X/fr_FR.UTF-8, displays garbage (????????)!

i am here from now.
any thought?
