Hello Will,
I was in fact thinking of posting to the Orca 
list today, but I think you're right. I believe 
it's a problem that has to do with Ubuntu audio, 
and not with Orca specifically.
In any case, I'll post to the Orca list, and see 
what others have to suggest on this issue.
It's a bit off-topic, but I don'r eally like this new Ubuntu.
