When I check this on Debian Lenny I see that the problem is becoming bigger
and bigger:
some of tbl files totally not correspond with the listed "braille-table"
cheatcode in the /usr/share/doc/brltty/examples/brltty.conf.gz template.

Official Debian Leny brltty.conf template:

#text-table	cz	# Czech (iso-8859-2)
#text-table	da	# Danish
#text-table	de	# German
#text-table	en_UK	# English (United Kingdom)
#text-table	en_US	# English (United States)
#text-table	es	# Spanish
#text-table	fr_CA	# French (Canada)
#text-table	fr_FR	# French (France)
#text-table	fr-2007	# French (Unified)
#text-table	fr-cbifs	# French (Code Braille Informatique Français Standard)
#text-table	it	# Italian
#text-table	nabcc	# North American Braille Computer Code
#text-table	no-generic	# Norwegian (with support for other languages)
#text-table	no-oub	# Norwegian (Offentlig Utvalg for Blindeskrift)
#text-table	pl	# Polish (iso-8859-2)
#text-table	pt	# Portuguese (iso-8859-1)
#text-table	ru	# Russian (koi8-r)
#text-table	se	# Swedish (1996 standard)
#text-table	se-old	# Swedish (1989 standard)
#text-table	vni	# Vietnamese

And here is an output of ls -l *.tbl on the SAME Debian Lenny:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 862 Jun 24 2008 etc/brltty/attrib.tbl
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 862 Jun 24 2008 etc/brltty/attributes.tbl
(OK these not included in the count)

(?)
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 11077 Jun 24 2008 etc/brltty/text.vni.tbl

Let me also say that no-generic is VERY HEAVY! imagine typing such a long
code blindly at a moment where brltty isn't running ? it would be a very
nice joke to see how much chance you've got it will start correctly: I have
a friend who already did mistakes with entering fr_FR .....
