Hi!
I have just tested the brltty 4.3.x you posted a link to here.
It works on a real com port.
It does not work onn a virtual com port and does not work with libusb.
So i am not sure whats going on here.
I wonder if there could be something with administrative permissions 
that aint right on my system.
To bad i don't know what to search for on google.
