Probably nothing. By pressing all eight dots, you're entering the desired 
character. The system then tries to display that character. The problem is that 
your currently selected font probably doesn't contain that character, which 
means that the system doesn't know which glyph to present on the screen for it. 
When brltty encounters an unmapped Unicode character, it presents it as a 
question mark.

You may be wondering why any given font wouldn't contain all of the characters. 
The reason is that a monitor, when in text mode, only supports at most 512 
glyphs. This means that screen font writers do their best to decide which 512 
characters would be the most useful, and, of course, that may mean not 
including your favourite character.
