If your system is running systemd (if you have the systemctl command
available, then it is), you need to install a systemd unit file for BRLTTY and
enable it. Check whether it's installed with
systemctl status brltty

However, I don't know whether Ubuntu has switched to systemd - it's one
distribution that I haven't used.
