[BRLTTY] brltty arch rpi questions

Hello,
I installed bratty from pacman on a raspberrypi.

When I start brltty and connect the display, I encounter some unexpected behavior.

First, All eight dots appear in all cells without text.  

Second, only the system messages show until I press enter.  I then get a login prompt which disappears after a short time.  I can login but the 8-dots still show for all empty cells.

Any thoughts appreciated.
