[BRLTTY] BRLTTY Gobbling up CPU

For some reason the load on my CPU was extremely heavy:
02:40:46 up 55 days, 16:34, 10 users,  load average: 1.05, 1.08, 1.07
Shouldn't be that high. The culprit appears to be BRLTTY:

What is making it so heavy there? Any way to find out?
