I'm fortunate enough to be sighted, so I could read it.  So the error is
actually java in cygwin.  Yes, this is known and has been reported on the
cygwin mailing list with a small test case.  No answer yet :/  A simple
workaround is to disable java: pass --disable-java-bindings as a
parameter to ./configure . Another workaround is to use gcc-java 3: make
sure you have installed it, and run

export JAVAC_PATH=gcj-3 JAR_NAME=jar-3

before running ./configure
