I use in general the deb version of the deb or rpm-based Linux o s I'm
using,
but there is no 4.1 in Lenny and maybe not in Squeeze so for six days
compiling my own static bin was a good compromise since I really don't like
migrating to unstable.

I encourage DAve to create a repo whichfrom Debian/Ubuntu users can download
newer brltty deb packages by adding a deb http://... entry in our
sources.list but without the need of migrating the hole STABLE system to
unstable. 

Other people than me are more specialized and can explain how does this
should work for the deb repo; I'm a Deb/Ubuntu end-user only!
