[BRLTTY] Screen not in text mode

I am using Orca, actually.

When I press alt-control-F2, F3, etc. the speech disappears for a while. Then it comes back and says I'm on the desktop, but the Braille terminal shows a shell prompt. The VM is completely unresponsive at the moment.
